Online Video Basics

Americans' appetite for Web video continues to soar, nearly doubling since 2006, according to a report released by Pew Internet research in July.

And according to comScore's Video Metrix, internet users in the US viewed 14.5 billion online videos just in the month of March, an increase of 11% over February.

Some more stats:

-YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine in the world

-There were over 85 million unique visitors on YouTube in July, and the numbers just keep growing

Hosting your video on YouTube puts your products and services in front of a whole new audience of people and gives you better search engine ranking because there are still less videos online than there is text, so there's less competition.

Viral videos can have a extremely powerful effect on brands as seen with the "Will it Blend?" and Smirnoff's "Tea Partay" snippets, which have received unbelievable traffic - (7 and 5 mill page views respectively!).

And the good news is you don't have to be a Hollywood producer to create a rockin' 4-minute message for your business, whether it's client testimonials, or product demos, or company news (click here to see clips of my videos on YouTube. If I can do it so can you!). Plus many of the applications you'll need to create, upload and share are free. So let's get those cameras rollin'! It's showtime!
